OSHA Health and Safety Citation – Panolam Industries

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the US has fined Panolam Industries nearly $80,000 for health and safety violations.

Panolam Industries International, an Atlanta-based plastics fabrication company, was issued with 18 serious health and safety citations for exposing workers to hazards, not training workers on the dangers of hazardous chemicals, and not removing forklifts with outdated safety equipment.

“Taking defective safety equipment out of rotation should be a no-brainer,” said William Fulcher, OSHA’s director of the Atlanta-East area office. “This inspection underscores the need for workers to inform OSHA of workplace hazards because no one should have to work in dangerous conditions just to make a living.”

The company were also fined for failing to train temporary staff on the hazards of using chemicals and not providing accurate data sheets.

The inspection took place in November 2014.

According to OSHA, Panolam Industries has 15 days to comply with the rulings.
